New Residence Hall Open

Posted October 9, 2007

After much anticipation, the new residence hall is now home to over 100 students! All four floors are teeming with activity and excitement, as residents tackle their studies and activities, and undertake to transform their rooms and halls into a “home away from home.”

Freshmen and upperclassmen alike are impressed with the new building and its community. “The girls on my hall are amazing,” says Stacey Hoksbergen ’11, one of the residents who enjoy spectacular views from the rooms on the topmost floor. Her hallmate, Meagan Stephens ’11, agrees: “I’ll probably try to stay in this hall all four years.”

The building features three resident floors, with commons areas located at the north and south ends, complete with kitchenettes and comfortable furniture for hall gatherings. Rooms are arranged in double room suites, with four residents sharing a bathroom. Each room includes a sink, new furniture, and spacious closets.

From the outdoor patio on the fourth floor balcony, residents can enjoy beautiful views looking out over the southern vista. All residents also enjoy the use of a full kitchen on the ground floor, as well as laundry areas, computer labs, gathering spaces, and a coffee shop. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the building.

The new resident director, Ken Litscher, and his wife, Renee, welcome students into their apartment regularly, and students also lounge in the well-lit, expansive first floor lobby, which is walled by windows and surrounded with beautiful stonework throughout the first floor. The mountain stone is also a notable feature of the building’s exterior, with landscaping and final touches completed this fall semester.

Celebrate with us the fruit of God’s blessing and your generosity, as this new residence hall extends, fosters, and serves the community that is at the very heart of Covenant College.
